On July 20th, a number of pro-RKBA people will speak to the Rochester City Council about repealing the ban on so-called, "assault weapons." The ban was upheld in 1994 on the false grounds that the Second Amendment conferred a collective right and that it only restrained Congress, not the States.

The claim that the Second Amendment conferred a collective right was shot down by the 2008 Heller Supreme Court ruling and the claim that it didn't restrain State and local laws was shot down by the 2010 McDonald ruling. The combination of these two rulings kicks the foundation out from under the 1994 Citizens for a Safer Community v. City of Rochester ruling.

If you would like to speak in favor of repealing this atrocious law, please call 428-7421 before 6:00 PM on July 20th. The Speak to Council session starts at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers at City Hall. Freedom Roc's will have full coverage of this, which will air in an upcoming episode. Stay tuned for details.
