Some of you may already know that in 2014 I dropped out of the Libertarian Party (at all levels) due to the refusal to disclaim even the most bizarre conspiracy theories espoused by people waving the Libertarian banner — including LP endorsed candidates — as official Libertarian Party positions.  The traditional view has been that if the LP itself had not stated a position, then it is not a position, but when members and candidates persistently put forth conspiracy theories in association with their Party membership or Party endorsed candidacy, what else is the public to believe?

On the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Libertarian Party of New York posted a blog entry commemorating this tragic event.  The post titled "Message from the LPNY Chair on the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks" finally acknowledges, "and as the news unfolded, it became clear the small plane was actually a commercial jetliner, and another had collided with the second tower." and, "President George W. Bush and his neoconservative government advisors proceeded in short order to draw up war plans targeting the Taliban government in Afghanistan, which was purported to be providing shelter and comfort to the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden."

Now, if only we could get the National LP to acknowledge Islamic terrorism as the cause of the attacks; and that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman who shot President Kennedy; and that we did land on the Moon; and that FEMA is not building concentration camps for political dissidents; and that there is, in fact, a federal law requiring people to pay income tax; and that the COVID-19 vaccine does not contain microscopic government tracking chips.
